Music at The Cornwall United Methodist Church
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.”
Join the choir! No audition necessary
We sing every Sunday at the 11:00 service from September – June, and at other special services through the year such as the Christmas and Easter. We sing an anthem and choral responses for services. Our role is to minister to the church and to God through music as a choir.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 and gather at 10:30 on Sunday mornings for a “dress rehearsal.”
The choir sings a range of choral repertoire from traditional to contemporary. There is no audition necessary for this group and all from high school age and up are welcome. All who enjoy singing are encouraged to join us.
Music Director: Linda Parrette
Linda has been serving as the CUMC choir director since 2005. She leads the choir through Sunday morning anthems and responses as well as congregational singing with guitar. She has a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the New England Conservatory and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY New Paltz. Her main instruments are oboe and saxophone. During the week she is a Pre-K teacher at the West Point Elementary School.
She, her husband, John, and their three children Lauren, Daniel, and Nathan have called Cornwall home for 18 years. The children are now going in three different directions for college so Linda enjoys spending time walking her three dogs, Nola, Rosie and Keokee.
